Police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit were conducting operations aimed at rooting out the drug trade in the province when they received intelligence on Friday afternoon, 6 November 2020 of a man who was about to leave Newlands East to deliver drugs to his runners in the Durban CBD.
Police proceeded to the area and found a 29-year-old man in Barcombe Place. When a search was conducted, police recovered drugs with an estimated street value of R335 000 and cash which is suspected to be the proceeds of the drug trade. The man was immediately placed under arrest for dealing in drugs.
He was taken to Newlands East police station where he was detained. He will appear at the Newlands Magistrates Court on 9 November 2020.
Police recovered mandrax tablets, cocaine powder and methcathinone. The suspect was also charged in terms of the Immigration Act
