An intoxicated driver was arrested after he collided into a First Responder vehicle attending to a Culpable Homicide case on Todd Street in the vicinity of Oaklands – KZN.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to a pedestrian/vehicular accident.
On arrival, RUSA Members discovered that the pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries which resulted in his demise after he was struck by a white Toyota Quantum.
While attending to the scene, a silver VW Polo collided into the rear of RUSA Response Vehicle (picture 1). The driver was under the influence of alcohol. He abandoned his vehicle and fled down a steep embankment.
Reaction Officers and Policemen from the Verulam SAPS pursued and apprehended him.
He sustained a suspected fracture to his right leg after he fell during the chase.
The man was transported to hospital and will be criminally charged after being examined.
