Drowning incident in Hillcrest at Inanda Dam

On 28 January 2017 Police Divers from Durban Search and Rescue along with IPSS Medical Rescue, Pietermaritzburg K9 Search and Rescue and Captain Wessels (DivComm Water Policing HQ) responded to a drowning incident in the Ngcolosi area in Hillcrest at the Inanda Dam.

A 33-year-old man was washing clothing in the dam. It’s understood the man swam into the dam, to cool down, when he got into difficulty and drowned.

The Victim was recovered from a depth of 4m by the Divers after K9 Chaz identified the location.

Inquest docket has been opened.
