Inkosi Mhlabunzima Maphumulo House: As part of ending carnage on our roads, we wish to announce that we are intensifying our campaign aimed at fighting fraud and corruption associated with the issuing of driver’s licences.
Tomorrow on Wednesday, 18 September – 30 people will appear in the Richards Bay Magistrate Court following their arrest in connection with the fraudulent issuing of drivers licencees for R2, 500.
This occurred at the Melmoth Driving Licence Centre under Mthonjaneni Local Municipality.
Initially, the Department’s Traffic and Transport Inspection Unit, together with the Hawks arrested nine people—two examiners and ten licence applicants who benefited.
The number has since increased to thirty (30).
The Department has revoked all learner’s licences issued by those arrested.
This is a clear indication of our determination to suffocate this criminal syndicate, which includes examiners, driving school owners, and applicants.
Our message is that fake drivers who underwent fake driving tests will be removed from our roads, arrested, and locked up in jail.
We do this in order to end carnage on our roads and to save innocent lives…
