Farm attack: The head of the Drakensberg Boys Choir School was stabbed 14 times with a broken bottle while trying to save his wife, Carmen, during an attack. The attack took place on Tuesday evening 10 December 2019 at the couples home on the school property in the Drakensberg. Greg Brooks (61) was stabbed at least 14 times with a broken bottle.

Brooks is in a critical but stable condition in a private hospital in Pietermaritzburg, while his wife, Carmen, was treated and later went to stay with family.

Four armed men gained access to the property and attacked the couple, they ransacked the house and took two cellphones, a safe with two firearms and jewelry that they loaded into Brooks’ car. They then attempted to take Carmen with them in the vehicle, Brooks put up a fight to save both their lives.

Winterton SAPS are investigating the attack, assault and robbery. There have been no arrests.
