The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has slammed reports by certain media houses who claim that the SANDF was deployed at the Durban City Hall ahead of a planned march on 8 October 2018.
Police management was informed of the planned march and deployed police officers accordingly. The SANDF who also had a planned event at the City Hall were never involved in the policing of the march as it is not within their mandate.
We appeal to media houses to report with integrity and to refrain from misleading the public by not verifying facts.
