Cato Manor hijacking, vehicle recovered in Merebank

Police officers from the Provincial Trio Task Team conducted an operation in Wentworth and surrounding areas on 19 June 2021.

During the operations, police officers received information about a suspect who was driving a hijacked vehicle. The said vehicle was spotted on Raj Mahal Road in Merebank and was intercepted. A search was conducted and it was established that vehicle was hijacked in Cato Manor this month.

It is alleged that on 4 June 2021, at 21:20, a motorist was stationary in his vehicle on Daluxolo Road in Wiggins when five unknown men approached him. At gunpoint, they robbed him of his vehicle and drove off. A case of carjacking was opened for investigation at Cato Manor SAPS.

A 42-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for possession of stolen property. The suspect is making his first court appearance in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today.
