Just after 12h30 on Tuesday Ensure Security’s National Command Centre received multiple reports of an alleged cash-in-transit heist near the Dube Village area north of Durban.
Multiple security service agencies responded to the scene and further information revealed that an unknown number of armed suspects opened fire on a security officer in an attempted robbery.
The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was treated and stabilized on scene by Emergency Care Practitioners before being airlifted with the assistance of the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist facility for the definitive care that he required.
