A father and son escaped unscathed after they came under attack during an attempted robbery in the Verulam CBD – KZN.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received multiple calls from the public reporting rapid gunfire on Wick Street outside the Verulam Market. All available Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and arrived on the scene.
It was established that the father and son had exited their hardware business. They were in the process of driving off in a grey VW Polo but were confronted by three gunmen. The suspects demanded cash when a scuffle ensued.
The robbers fired multiple shots at the vehicle before they fled empty-handed in a white Toyota Quantum (registration unknown).
One suspect dropped a 9mm pistol while fleeing.
The VW Polo was shot multiple times but both victims were not injured.
