Business robbed in Springfield Park, Durban

At approximately 18:15 on Tuesday, the Marshall Security Emergency Contact Centre received a call for an armed robbery in progress at business premises in Willowfield Crescent in the suburb of Springfield Park, north of Durban.

Armed Reaction officers were immediately dispatched and on further investigation, it was ascertained that whilst a private security officer was busy with the shift change, he was approached by an armed suspect, brandishing a pistol. demanding the security officers firearm and keys to his vehicle.

The suspect then fled in an unknown direction. The stolen vehicle was fitted with a satellite tracking device monitored by BidTrack and a signal was picked up in the Springfield Park area, not far from the original scene of the crime.

Marshall Security Armed Reaction officers located the vehicle abandoned where it was secured and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.

The suspect remains at large.
