Residents in Isipingo Hills are urged to be on high alert following reports from some homeowners in the area that there is a spike in copper theft and other crimes in the vicinity.

A resident from Protea Road reported that copper pipes were stolen from the family’s property during the early hours of Thursday morning. The newly acquired property is vacant with no security system. The resident said that neighbours noticed the suspects and alerted them of the theft in progress. The suspects were disturbed and fled via the vast field behind the property. The field and bush open to the graveyard and Dick King tombstone on Delhoo Lane.

The resident has reported that criminals are operating between the hours of 1am and 5am and use the open field which leads to a dense bush as a quick getaway and hideout. The homeowner paid to have the bush on the vacant land behind her property trimmed so that she can view the area behind her wall.

Alpha Alarms have received several reports of criminals lurking in the area and have responded to numerous call-outs of copper theft and attempted house-break-ins in the Isipingo Hills vicinity.

Alpha security officers confirmed that criminals use the field and dense bush as a haven and escape route as they have pursued suspects in that vicinity.

Alpha Alarms has stepped up patrols in the area and are keeping a close watch for suspicious personnel.

Residents are urged to be alert especially during the early hours of the morning and when incessant barking dogs are heard.

Please ensure that security systems are in proper working order and alert police and security personnel if there are suspects on your property.
