A bus driver died after he was allegedly shot while transporting about 50 people earlier yesterday evening.
The incident occurred on Old Wartburg Road, Pietermaritzburg. ER24 as well as other services attended to the scene.
It is understood that the driver went down an embankment and into the front of a house after being shot.
Paramedics found the bus driver still in the bus. Sadly there was nothing that could be done for the man believed to be about 50 years of age. He was declared dead.
Paramedics treated and transported one patient from the bus to hospital for minor injuries. All other passengers refused hospital treatment.
The exact cause of the incident is unknown.
Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
