On 3 November 2021, Hlanganani Regional Court sentenced Bonga Khambule (28), Fana Ngcobo (21) to life imprisonment for murder and 15 years for robbery. Khethukuthula Mthalane (22) and Thobani Nkabini (21) were each sentenced to 20 years for murder and 15 years for robbery.

Their sentence came after a well presented docket was finalized in court.

On 8 October 2017 at 22:05, Zwelethu Nzimande (45) attended a traditional ceremony at Solokohlo area in Bulwer when he had an argument with the four accused.

After the ceremony, Nzimande proceeded to his homestead at Emakhuzeni area. While he was at home with his family, the same men showed up. They attacked and assaulted him as well as his family members.

Nzimande was also stabbed and shot on the body and he died at a local clinic. His family members were injured in the altercation.

The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene on foot.

Charges of murder and robbery were opened for investigation at Bulwer SAPS.

The investigative team immediately commenced their investigation and the accused were traced and arrested in April 2018. The accused were tried in court and they were held behind bars throughout the trial. The sentences will run concurrently.
