In a farm attack, a couple were found murdered at their home on Vincent Dickenson Road in Cottonlands, KZN on 3 September 2018. At approximately 12:51 Reaction Unit South Africa received a call from a family member requesting assistance after he looked through a window and noticed blood on the bedroom floor.

Reaction Officers were dispatched to the home and upon arrival found that all doors leading into the home were locked. The lock on a security gate leading to the veranda was forced open.

Officers climbed through an open window and found a pool of blood covered with a towel at the entrance of the bedroom. A blood trail led RUSA Officers to the bathroom which was locked.

After breaking down the door the bodies of 68 year old Dhir Roy Singh and his 60 year old live in girlfriend Kay were discovered. Kay who is a former resident of Redcliffe in Verulam was found lying face down in the bathtub with her hands tied behind her back.

She is believed to have been strangled however this is yet to be confirmed. Singh’s body was found on the floor of the bathroom with stab wounds to his neck. A Stanley knife was believed to be used in the murder was found in the living room.

The house was ransacked. A TV and a bottle green Toyota Conquest with registration LCD 560 GP which belongs to Singh is confirmed to be stolen at this stage. According to family the couple were last seen on Saturday afternoon at approximately 16:00 at a function in the area.

Singh’s employee grew concerned this morning when he arrived for work and found the driveway gates locked. He assumed that Singh who is a farmer had already left to the Verulam Market. Several hours later Singh’s family arrived at the home and made their way onto the property when they noticed blood on the bedroom floor.

They then contacted RUSA for assistance.

Police are investigating further.
