A gang of 11 armed robbers held up staff at a Phoenix business premises on Sunday.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the suspects, who were armed with a rifle and pistols, entered the shop in Parthenon Road at around 11.45am.

Mathios said the gang held up staff on the premises at gunpoint. “Fortunately, no injuries were reported following the incident.”

It was unclear what the robbers had stolen because the store owner was still taking stock of his goods.

Phoenix SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
