Brazen gang drive off with vehicles from Pinetown car dealership

A gang of brazen armed robbers held up a security guard in broad daylight at a car dealership in Pinetown and proceeded to steal several vehicles on 15 April 2018.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said three suspects, armed with a firearm, held up a security guard on the premises at around 11.45pm. “The suspects fled with three Mercedes Benz vehicles, a BMW and a Ford Eco Sports. No injuries were reported and there were no signs of forced entry onto the the premises,” Mathios said.

Pinetown SAPS attended the scene of the crime.

In a separate incident in Gillitts, a gang of three armed suspects held up a resident in her home in Sandra Place after gaining entry through a driveway gate that had been left open on Friday morning.

Mathios said the suspects had snuck around the property to a back bedroom and forced open a window and burglar bars to gain entry into the house. “The resident only became aware of their presence once the suspects were already inside they house where they held her up at gunpoint. They demanded jewellery and a safe and robbed her of her wedding ring, cellphone and vehicle. No injuries were reported and the stolen vehicle was later recovered,” Mathios said.

Mathios advised residents to always be vigilant when opening and closing driveway gates and to ensure any electrical problems with faulty gates or batteries are attended to timeously. “When opening your driveway gates to let someone out always make sure that the gate has closed properly once they have driven off because your home is only as secure as your security system’s weakest link. If for any reason you are experiencing problems with your gate closing securely every time, get the fault assessed and repaired as quickly as possible.”

Hillcrest SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
