Criminals have no fear of being caught or punished.

Two banks at Scottsburgh Mall were robbed by heavily armed men in the early hours of this morning. Reports indicate that approximately 10 suspects armed with AK47 and R5s rifles disarmed security guards and broke into the banks. The criminals used explosives to blast ABSA and FNB banks and made off with an undisclosed amount in cash.

Police responded to the alarms and fired shots in all directions. Suspects managed to flee in two Izuzu bakkies. Roads leading to the Mall were cordoned off while police investigated.

Since then an update has been released that the Mall is open for business and that the police and explosive units have cleared the scene.

Reports indicate that there are no injuries expect for the security guards who were physically assaulted.
