Three men posing as Policemen held up the Verulam Post Office on Ireland Street in Verulam as staff were preparing to open on the morning of Friday 11 September 2020. Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call from a employee of the Post Office at approximately 06:43 reporting the incident.

On arrival it was established that one suspect dressed in full Police uniform knocked at the door while employees were setting up.
After opening the door and allowing the bogus SAPS official in, two other men entered.

The suspect impersonating a Policeman drew a firearm and cable tied one employee before restraining a second victim with his belt. They then questioned a third employee regarding the safe keys but were informed that it was not kept on the premises.

The suspects left empty handed as other employees arrived. As they walked out they informed staff that they were conducting an investigation. The robbers fled in a black Audi.

Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the suspects however no arrests were made.
