In the early hours of 22 February 2018, a body of a 30 year old woman was found in a shallow grave at Mpola area.
She had been reported missing on 2 February 2018 and the Missing Person Inquiry was opened for investigation. After the discovery, a case of murder was opened at Mariannhill police station and police arrested a 36 year old suspect.
He was charged for murder and he appeared in the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court on 23 February 2018.
On 23 February 2018, an extensive police investigation led them to other two suspects aged 26 and 30. They were arrested and charged for kidnapping and murder. The 36 year old accused was remanded in custody until 26 February 2018 where he will be appearing alongside his accomplices.
