SAPS Search and Rescue Units hard at work with rescue and recovering operations. On the morning of 30 December 2020, police divers from Durban Search and Rescue Unit, Durban K9 Search and Rescue Unit and Metro Police Search and Rescue Unit returned to the Umgeni River to search for the body of a13-year-old boy who drowned.

The SAPS Airwing assisted in dropping the divers, skilfully landing on a narrow rock slab alongside the river. K9 Ghost was utilized and indicated an area where the dive operation was conducted.

Sadly the body was recovered and airlifted to the staging area at the Mzwamandla Khanyile Primary School, where it was handed over to members from KwaDabeka SAPS.
