A black farmer from Ifafi in Natal lost thirteen cattle by administering an overdose of a tick controlling poison.
Bonginkosi Nene apparently bought the tick control poison more than a year ago at a pharmacy, and it appears that he did not give the correct dosage. Within minutes all his cattle died.
After three days, the carcasses of the cattle lay on the land, as he received instruction from the disaster management officials of the Ubuhlebezwe Municipality not to dump the carcasses in the river as the poison can lead to contamination.
