South African Police Service

On 8 December 2019, at 19:00, a 70-year-old man was at his home at Mgetane in Nsuze when he was accosted by four males who pretended to be police officers. They demanded firearms, tied him and his wife with a rope and threatened to kill them if he does not give them firearms.

Fearing for his life, the victim showed them the safe and they removed four firearms which were a pistol, a 7.65 and two air guns. A case of house robbery was opened at Nsuze police station for investigation.

On 24 February 2020, the ILembe Rapid Response Team, Nsuze detectives and Umhlali K9 Unit members arrested the third suspect at his homestead in Nsuze for robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The 32-year-old suspect will join his two co-accused Lihle Innocent Ngubane (35) and Sipho Msizi Mzimela (33) who were arrested last year in December and have been appearing in court. The third suspect is expected to appear at the Maphumulo Magistrates Court.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the police officers for the latest arrest in the case.
