Today at around 10h30am SAPS Eshowe Crime Prevention Members received information from Mbongolwane police Members requesting back up, after a Business Robbery occurred this morning, 20 April 2018. They gave a description of the getaway vehicle of the suspects.

According to information, a 48 year old shop owner was at his shop at Mbongolwane when three unknown men entered his shop, one of them armed. The shop owner was shot and injured. The suspects ransacked his shop taking an undisclosed amount of cash, cell phones cigarettes and various other goods and fled the scene towards Eshowe direction in a White VW Golf.

Through Eshowe crime prevention members’ vigilance, the vehicle was spotted in Kangela Street speeding upon which the members attempted to stop it however the driver sped off and a high speed chase ensued.

Police managed to intercept the vehicle at Siza petrol station just outside town. The police conducted a search of the suspects that has led to the recovery of a licensed 9mm pistol with its serial number visible belonging to one of the suspects, a 28 year old. It is believed to have been used in the commission of crime. The items that were taken from the shop were found in the vehicle and were seized.

The victim is in a stable condition he was taken to Mbongolwane Hospital. Investigation continues. Suspects will appear in court soon.
