Reports from the scene indicate that whilst a Security officer was leaving the store a suspect posing as a customer attempted to disarm him and remove a package in hand.
The suspect then shot the Security officer and fled with an undisclosed amount of valuables. VIP Medics attended to the injured security officer who was stabilized on scene before being transported rapidly to a medical facility for further assessment.
Unconfirmed if a getaway vehicle was awaiting the suspect along wick street at the time.
Saps Verulam was informed of the incident.
In a separate incident on Thursday evening along the Dumsani Makhaye and Inanda Road intersection near Vn Naik School another Security officer was shot multiple times as he stopped at the traffic signal. Kznvip Medics responded to the scene together with cpf and Security teams but the victim was rushed privately, sadly his condition worsened and the Security Officer passed on in Hospital.
