A 25 year old robbery suspect is set to appear at the Durban Magistrates Court on 12 September 2019, on charges of robbery as well as possession an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
On 10 September 2019, at 15:30, a 42 year old man was at his business premises at Samora Machel Street when two males entered the café and threatened him with a firearm. At gunpoint, they instructed him not to make any noise. They locked him inside a toilet while removing an undisclosed amount of cash and a cellphone.
Police received a report of a robbery in progress and swiftly proceeded to the scene. One of the suspects was caught in the act and was found in possession of a 9mm pistol and a cellphone.
