On 19 December 2021, at 14:30, police officers from Ulundi Public Order Police assisted by KZN Airwing conducted an intelligence driven operation at Dabhasi area in Nongoma.
The team was following up on information regarding the suspects in possession of illegal firearms.
The suspects were arrested while at their homestead in Dabhasi area. The suspects were found in possession of an AK47 and a pistol with six rounds of ammunition.
They were all placed under arrest for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing.
The arrested suspects aged between 18 and 31 will be profiled to check if they are linked to serious and violent crimes reported in Nongoma and surrounding areas.
The suspects are appearing in the Nongoma Magistrates’ Court.
