Shortly before 10H30 Thursday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting at a Virginia Beach parking lot popular with local fisherman.
Reports from the scene indicate that an adult male had sustained an alleged self inflicted gunshot wound to his head.
The man was assessed on scene by an Advanced life support paramedic and sadly found to have no signs of life and was declared deceased on the scene.
Circumstances leading up to the man allegedly taking his own life is currently unknown however the Durban North SAPS are on scene and will be investigating.
