A 70 year old Pinetown resident was lucky to escape a home invasion unharmed when a gang of armed robbers stormed onto her property while she was in the garden, yesterday morning.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the resident was in her Farningham Ridge garden giving instructions to her gardener when they were disturbed by a gang of four suspects who gained entry onto the property. The incident occurred at around 9.43am.

“The suspects, who were wearing balaclavas and gloves and armed with firearms, entered the property and then forced the resident and her gardener into the house where they demanded keys to the safe. The suspects ransacked the house and fled with cash, passports, title deeds for a property, birth certificates and a cellphone. No injuries were reported,” Mathios said.

A Pineridge Neighbourhood Watch debriefer attended the scene to assist the victims. Members of Pinetown SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
