Seven men are expected to appear before the Mahlabathini Magistrates’ Court on 6 July 2020, facing charges for possession of drugs.

Their arrest follows an operation that was conducted on Friday, 3 July 2020 at 12:00 by the Zululand Cluster Task Team and Ulundi Public Order Police.

The team went to a taxi rank in Ulundi where there were reports of people selling drugs. The team pounced on them whilst they were busy conducting their illegal activities. A total of seven suspects aged between 21 and 42 were arrested at the taxi rank after they were found in possession of various drugs including heroine.

They were placed under arrest for possession of drugs.

The Provincial Commissioner in KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula praised the team for the arrest of the suspects. “The community can expect police visibility in their neighborhoods to curb criminal activities. We are appealing to citizens to continue to provide us with information of criminality in their suburbs,” he said.
