On Monday 28 March 2022, Estcourt Magistrate Court convicted and sentenced Robert Ndumo to eight years imprisonment of which two years was suspended.

Ndumo was found guilty for possession of stolen property and theft out of a train.

On 5 November 2020 a case of theft was reported at Howick police station after Transnet discovered that televisions were stolen from the train.

A case docket was allocated to Hawks members from Pietermaritzburg Serious Organised Crime Investigation.

Few days’ later members received information about a suspect who was transporting the goods to Gauteng. A disruptive operation was conducted and Ndumo was intercepted near Estcourt.

He was pulling a trailer with 62 stolen televisions and he was arrested.

Ndumo appeared in court several times until he was sentenced.
