At 14H08 Tuesday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting in Oak Avenue, Motalabad Kloof.
Reports from the scene indicate that a 44-year-old male had sustained multiple gunshot wounds while sitting in his car.
Community members heard the sounds of gunshots taking place and had alerted emergency services.
The patient was assessed on scene and found to be in a critical condition. The man was treated on scene by a Netcare 911 Emergency Care Practitioner.
Due to the nature of his injuries the advanced life support paramedic activated Netcare 1 a specialised helicopter ambulance which landed near the scene.
Once stabilized the patient was flown to hospital for the specialised care he required.
Circumstances leading up to the shooting will be investigated by the SAPS who were on scene.
