A 4-year-old boy was accused of setting a bedroom alight at his home in B Section, Parkgate – KZN.
Residents contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance at 08:42 after they noticed smoke billowing out of one of the bedrooms.
On arrival, Reaction Officers confirmed that the fire was extinguished by the homeowner.
It was alleged that the minor child was playing with a box of matches in one of the bedrooms and set the bed alight.
The fire spread rapidly but was contained by his family.
No injuries were reported.
