On 12 February 2018, a Nongoma Regional Court convicted and sentenced Mboniseni Dlamini (32) to 20 years imprisonment for rape and murder charges.

He was convicted after the magistrate heard how he committed these crimes last year. On 1 January 2017 at 4:00 the 24 year old woman was at her house at Ekubuseni area, Nongoma when she was approached by the accused.

After an argument, she was raped and stabbed to death. A weapon (knife) suspected to have been used during the commission of the crime was found at the scene.

A case of murder was opened at Nongoma police station for further investigation.

Through thorough investigation by the local detectives, the accused was arrested and charged with murder and rape.
