Lephalale (Ellisras), South Africa – Koos Jonker (79), an elderly man of Limpopo who rented a small flat on a farm near Ellisras, was found murdered on Monday-morning August 4 2014.
SA Police Service col. Ronel Otto confirms that it is suspected that five males has broken into the main homestead very likely the Sunday before.
Mr Jonker had rented a small flat next to a storage area and was found murdered there.
He had been hogtied, showed stabbing wounds, head wounds. Police forensic examination is awaited to determine the exact cause of death. Nothing was robbed from Mr Jonkers belongings as far as the police were able to determine. The old-age pensioner’s daughter was contacted to verify more details in this regard.
Otto said very likely was that the suspects broke through a window to gain access to the homestead. The owner-family was absent and only discovered the break-in from their home on Monday. The farm-owner went to check up on Mr Jonker and found his blood-covered body.”
The police suspect that he was ‘assaulted with a sharp object and bashed over the head.
The main homestead showed that items were missing from the owner-family, mostly electronics such as cellphones, a laptop computer, a camera.
