Suspended Eskom bosses, Matshela Koko, and Prish Govender are back at Eskom after being found not guilty of corruption during disciplinary hearings.

Koko’s trial went on his non-declaration of conflict of interests. His stepdaughter, Koketso Choma, benefited about R1 billion as director of Impulse International through contracts awarded by Eskom.

Govender was implicated in fees paid to McKinsey, a contract that was later declared invalid.

The trial of Koko is openly criticized and seen as a sham trial. He will now act as Head of Generations and Govender will return as acting head of Group Capital.

Analysts note that the two might raise enough capital to pay Eskom’s overdue accounts.
