Previous SARS chief operating officer, Jonas Makwakwa, actively tried to interfere with high ranking tax or so called GDP tax issues.
His orders to Makungu Mtebule for information were refused, but complaints to Tom Moyane about Jonas Makwakwa actions fell on deaf ears and led her to not be permanently appointed. She then, for 15 months only read newspapers and books as she was deprived of any decision making actions.
In spite of that, she received a 30% performance bonus. This was done to keep her quiet she said.
It is now awaited as to whether anyone will be held accountable for the waste.
