Jeffreys Bay houserobbers arrested

A high-speed chase by police in Uitenhage has resulted in the arrest of two suspects who allegedly committed house robbery on Wednesday.

Police from Humansdorp Crime Prevention Unit and the K9 Unit pursued the suspects on the R102 between Jeffreys Bay and Humansdorp after the house robbery occurred earlier in Jeffreys Bay.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Gerda Swart said a 69-year-old woman was allegedly overpowered in her home in Paradise Beach at 02:00 by three unknown suspects.

“The suspects took several valuable items including cellphones, cash and jewellery and fled in her red KIA Picanto. The victim alerted the local police of the incident and the stolen vehicle was circulated immediately to surrounding police stations.

“Members on patrol noticed the vehicle driving towards Humansdorp on the R102 and after a high-speed chase, managed to pull the vehicle off the road,” Swart said.

He added the three suspects attempted to flee and police managed to arrest two of the suspects on the spot.

“The search for the third outstanding suspect was immediately launched and will continue until he is arrested,” Swart said.

Police in Jeffreys Bay are investigating a case of house robbery.

The Humansdorp Cluster Commander, Brigadier Neil Jantjies praised the efforts.

“I would like to applaud these members and encourage them to keep up the good work.  It takes dedicated and committed police official to bring perpetrators to book”.
