It is today 366 years ago that Jan van Riebeeck sat foot ashore in the Cape, where he did not find any blacks.

Two years later, Van Riebeeck gave the undertaking that this day should be dedicated to the Heavenly Father in gratitude by all the descendants as a commemoration day.

The explorer movement still hears Van Riebeeck’s call every year, and has a program at the Paardekraal festival grounds tonight in Krugersdorp.
