The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has filed an application in the Western Cape High Court against the journalist and writer Jacques Pauw, claiming he revealed confidential information in his book The President’s Keepers.
According to Tom Monyane of SARS, Pauw published public taxpayers information that is inconsistent with the Tax Administration Act.
The publishers stated in a statement that the fact that SARS brought the application proves that statements in the book are real. The publishers will, therefore, oppose the application.
The book reveals Roy Moodley’s payment of a salary to Zuma. Zuma apparently did not reveal this in his tax returns.
