If so-called populist policies are implemented, in the long term, it will steer the country into a disaster.
The warning comes from Chief Executive Officer of Investec, Stephen Koseff. He was speaking at breakfast at the ANC’s policy conference.
Koseff said there should be better protection for the country’s key institutions, such as the Reserve Bank. Interference will only accelerate the downward spiral, and the countries poorest will be affected.
There must be a stop to defining the private sector as the black sheep of the economy, just to take attention away from the continuous draining of state entities.
Koseff said the recently announced amendments to the mining charter will cause nothing but a disaster.
