The first matric results have been announced, and are those of matriculants who passed the Independent Examination Board (IEB) exam.
IEB candidates who achieved a pass rate of 98.7% last year, improved their performance to 98.8% this year.
Over 11 000 matrics passed the exam, the standard of which is considered to be much higher than the state’s Umalusi, and 88.5% received university exemption.
