Three men accused of murdering an Inanda police officer are set for two court appearances on Friday, facing a raft of charges relating to the killing.
The three were arrested on Wednesday, a day after they allegedly shot and killed one officer and critically wounded another after overpowering and disarming them.
The officers had been serving a protection order on one of the accused at the time of the attack.
Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said that the men would appear in both the Pinetown and Ntuzuma courts on related charges.
“Three arrested suspects are due to appear today in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” he said.
The firearm charges related their alleged possession of police owned guns which had been stolen from the officers.
“They will then be taken to Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court to face murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and robbery [charges],” Zwane said.
