A joint disruptive operation by the Hawks Serious Organised Crime and Kimberley SAPS has led to the arrest of a 38-year-old suspect for alleged trafficking in persons.

The Hawks received information about a 26-year-old woman who was allegedly trafficked from Pietermarizburg to the Northern Cape during June 2020.

It is claimed that the victim was allegedly locked up at a house, raped and repeatedly assaulted by the perpetrator.

On Wednesday, 22 July 2020, a disruptive operation was conducted which led to the arrest of the said suspect.

He is expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 24 July 2020.
