How corrupt is the police really?

It is the question asked by experts after the Gauteng police commissioner, Lieutenant General. Deliwe de Lange revealed that 980 police members were dismissed or resigned since April this year after being investigated for corruption.

General De Lange said that as long as she holds the scepter, corruption will not be tolerated. She made the remark during a parade in which she welcomed almost 1,200 new police constables.

Observers say that if so many police officers were only caught in one province for corruption, it must be a huge problem countrywide as it can be assumed that not even all the corruptors in Gauteng are brought to book, and there is probably still a lot that needs to be caught.
