Hijacked salesman feared for his life

Durban – A vehicle sales consultant’s business transaction turned sour when he arranged to meet a potential buyer at Mobeni railway station on October 16, 2014 at about 12.35pm.

The consultant who does not wish to be named, met with a man posing as Doctor Dlamini who was interested in buying a Ford Ranger. Dlamini told the consultant that his wife wanted to see the vehicle.

Dlamini met with the consultant at Mobeni railway station. “I asked Dlamini what he specialises in and he gave me a funny answer. That’s when I realised something was wrong and I became suspicious,” said the consultant. Dlamini produced a gun and was joined by two other armed men. The hijackers forced him into the Ford Ranger and drove around with him for 20 minutes. “It was the worst 20 minutes of my life. The men were fighting among themselves about whether or not to kill me.” The hijackers received a call to find out if they had the Ford Ranger and then dropped the consultant in Umlazi V-section. He tracked down a police van and he was referred to Montclair SAP.

The Ford Ranger was recovered at about 9pm on Thursday by W/O Tiger Ramsamy of the provincial vehicle tracking team…
