At an event for the launch of her biography “Not without a fight” in Stellenbosch yesterday, Helen Zille replied to questions from the audience, amongst others the question how she perceives the political road towards 2019. Dean Dart of Front National attended the event.
And right there Helen lets a nasty little cat out of the bag (after asking whether any journalists were present!)
She said that:
- The DA has no objection in principle against forming a coalition with the ANC in 2019, providing that Cyril Ramaphosa is the ANC leader
- Such talks are already going behind the screens
- The only stumbling block would be the DA’s concern that such a coalition would direct the black vote away from the DA towards the ANC, in other words: The DA’s only concern is their own positions in parliament, nothing about principle!
Now what is this then, Helen? Could you guys kindly clarify this for us, keeping in mind that we have a sound recording of the statements made.
