On Thursday, 22 August 2019, at about 16:00, police arrested seven suspects aged between 27 and 33 in Tsakane. This followed after two victims reported to the police that they were hijacked of their truck at Harrismith by two males and were forced in the bed area inside the truck and drove off with them to a small holding at Heidelberg area.
The suspects then offloaded the fuel tank and then drove the victims in a silver Nissan bakkie and dropped them off at Tsakane. Swift reaction from the Trio task team members who swiftly acted on the information received, located the vehicle and found seven males occupants in the vehicle.
Upon searching them, one of the truck driver’s passport and traces of fuel was found. The suspects were arrested and detained at Tsakane SAPS, further investigation is underway.
All seven suspects will Tsakane Magistrate Court on Monday, 26 August 2019. The management applauded the members for their swift reaction that led to the arrest of suspects.
