Guptas get substantial VAT refund

Die Vryburger

The Gupta family has allegedly received an R70 million repayment from SARS, and it has raised all sorts of questions about this institution.

SARS boss Tom Monyane had to intervene in this regard after certain officials wanted to stop the refund due to possible irregularity, and Monyane made sure that it went through.

According to observers, the repayment to Oakbay is highly irregular and follows after several banks in South Africa have closed the family’s accounts due to hidden transactions. Due to this fact, the payment could not be made in the Oakbay bank account, and there was a request to pay the refund into an overseas bank account or into an attorney’s trust account.

Both of these requests, however, conflict with SARS regulations.

Monyane, however, intervened and authorized the payment, but it is unknown into whose account it was paid. This reinforces the suspicion that SARS is also in the Guptas pockets.
