Minister of Finance Malusi Gigaba was to hold a media conference wherein he would submit plans for the country’s economic crisis after another downgrade.

However, he dismissed the conference and gave no reason.

Economists are of the opinion that he and the ANC have run out of plans and did not see the opportunity to address the media.

In the meantime, allegations have led to the fact that during his time as home affairs minister, the Guptas application for citizenship was improperly favored and he made the whole process for the Guptas easier.

Meanwhile, President Jacob Zuma brought a counter application against the DA’s application for a judicial commission to be appointed around the state capture allegations. It follows from the previous Public Protector’s recommendation that Zuma should designate a commission within 30 days and that the judge must be appointed by the chief judge Mogoeng. The 30 days have elapsed and hence the application against Zuma.
