The National police Commissioner, General Sitole attended the UN Chiefs of Police Summit 2018 in New York as part of the SAPS commitment to fully contribute on the efforts of preventing conflicts and achieving sustainable peace within the framework of consented multilateralism.

The mission of the UN Chiefs of Police Summit, UNCOPS, is to enhance international peace and security by supporting Member States in conflict, post conflict and other crisis situations.

The second UNCOPS Summit took place on 20 and 21 June, to strengthen effectiveness and prevention of threats.
